YOUR MAC. YOUR NUMBERS.

Counts. Never your words.

KeysCounter is made by Václav Patorek. This page describes the current app under development and the public website at keyscounter.com. The app is not yet available for public download. For privacy questions, contact hello@keyscounter.com.

What the app stores

KeysCounter keeps aggregate daily and hourly statistics: key counts (including per-key counts), per-app counts identified by bundle identifier, active typing seconds, and estimated distance between key presses. Application names and icons are resolved locally. These aggregate statistics can reveal usage patterns even though they are not a text history.

What it does not store

The app does not save typed words or sentences, ordered key events, exact event timestamps, clipboard contents, screenshots, or window titles. It temporarily uses consecutive input events in memory to calculate active time and estimated distance, then saves the aggregates.

Optional diagnostics

If you enable diagnostic logging, the release candidate writes one cumulative summary of counts, active time, and distance, without key identifiers or event timestamps. Clear logs removes it. Earlier development builds could create more detailed logs; those are detected separately and can be explicitly cleared.

Where the data lives

The default location is your Mac’s Application Support folder. You can choose another storage folder in Settings. If you choose a folder synced by another service, that service controls its synchronization. KeysCounter itself has no account, analytics service, or cloud synchronization.

Permissions and control

Input Monitoring lets macOS deliver global key events to the app. The app provides an Accessibility fallback for permission troubleshooting; it is not a request to record your text. You can pause monitoring, turn off automatic startup, export your statistics, or delete local history in Settings. Copies you have exported or backed up remain separate.

Visiting this website

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for information about its processing.

The website code includes no advertising, analytics scripts, tracking cookies, signup form, or checkout. Fonts use your system’s font stack and assets are served from this site. Hosting and security services may still process requests; visiting the website does not give us access to the app’s local statistics.

The interactive app illustration uses made-up example data. It does not read your keyboard or connect to an installed copy of KeysCounter.

Contacting us

If you email hello@keyscounter.com, your email address, message, and any attachments are processed to respond to your request. Email is received through Český hosting (THINline s.r.o.) and forwarded to the publisher’s inbox. Do not send your typing statistics or other personal information unless it is needed for your question.

Your choices

Your app history stays under your control on your Mac. We cannot retrieve or delete it remotely. For personal information you have sent by email, contact hello@keyscounter.com to request access, correction, or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern.

Future releases

There is currently no public download, payment provider, or mailing list. This page will be updated if a release introduces a new provider or changes how information is handled.
